Kashmir Earthquake of 2005

On October 8th, 2005 an earthquake reaching the magnitude of 7.6 hit Kashmir, a region in the middle east controlled partially by Pakistan, partially by India and Afghanistan. As a result, more than 80,000 people died and an estimated 4 million others were left homeless. This earthquake took place shortly after 8 am. Kashmir is located at the Junction of the Eurasia and Indian tectonic plates, the collisions of which caused the formation of the Himalaya mountains, making it prone to intense seismic activity.

This was one of the worst earthquakes to hit this region. it devastated the infrastructure throughout the area and people were completely cut off from the outside world. There was no longer even a local economy because everything was gone. All the buildings were destroyed for the most part and it the buildings were not, then the roads were, and no one could get anywhere to do anything.
